ArcGIS Tools + Method
-
Downloaded data from the Washington Department of Health for WIC Retailers, EMS Fire Stations and Residential Treatment Facilities.
-
Created a Network Dataset in preparation to perform various network analyses.
-
Created two sets of service areas using only drive time and walk time as the parameters.
-
The first service area analysis constituted all regions of Tacoma that are within a 1, 5, and 10 minute drive of a fire station (Bottom Left). Yellow represents Drive time in 1 mins, Green represents 5 minutes and Grey on the outer edges represents 10 minutes.

-
Third service area analysis constituded all regions of Tacoma that are within 1, 5, and 10 minute walk of a Residential Treatment Centers (Top Left). These points represent the locations of drug and alcohol treatment centers in Washington.
-
For the next analysis, Network Analyst and other spatial analysis techniques were combined to test our hypothsis that these Residential Treatment Centers tend to be located in lower value neighborhoods.
-
Taxable values of single family homes within each of these ranges examined by using Select by attributes & Locations.
-
Then created the shortest (using time as our factor) route for a delivery truck to drop produce off at 5 different WIC Retailer locations (Bottom Right) by using Route analysis among multiple destinations.
